Mission Statement
The mission of the Comptroller's Office Training Section is to provide training that assists departments in complying with University financial policies and Comptroller's Office and Central Procurement Services' procedures, Federal and State regulations, and grant and contract agreements.
Overview
This section consists of one trainer who works in conjunction with the Comptroller's Office Associate Comptrollers and Unit Managers, Central Procurement Services (CPS) staff, Administrative Information Systems (AIS) web administrators, and The University Human Resources Management (UHRM) Training and Development staff. The primary purpose of this collaborative group is to provide thorough, consistent, financial policy and procedural training to departmental administrators and individuals who are responsible for carrying out financial responsibilities.
This section is also responsible for:
- Creating and maintaining all Disbursement-related information on the AdmiNET and Comptroller's Office web pages.
-
Providing a centralized "help desk" function for user departments in the areas of the Accounts Payable Purchase Order System (APS-PO) and Financial Accounting Systems (FAS) security access.
- Coordinating and scheduling the Comptroller Office and Central Procurement quarterly training schedules.
Available Training
Quarterly Training
Quarterly training sessions are provided at Crerar Library and the Mott Building. Fliers are mailed to department administrators at the beginning of each quarter. Course updates, pre-requisites, fees, and cancellation announcements are posted on the UHRM Training and Development web pages.
Web-based "Help" Documents
To meet the departmental demand for "quick help" information, the Training Section works closely with the AdmiNET staff to provide on-line announcements, policy updates, "how to" manuals and a continuous growing Forms Library of commonly used University forms. This information is available on AdmiNET, the "administrator's" web site. We strongly advise departments to visit this site daily.
